Welcome! The Citizens Advisory Committee was formed to
provide citizen input to the Ferrisburgh Planning Commission on an unofficial,
advisory basis as they update the town's zoning bylaws and subdivision regulations. Our mission is to make sure the diverse
points-of-view of the town's property owners and residents are heard during the
drafting process, and to help the Planning Commission develop new bylaws that
have broad bipartisan support.
We invite all
Ferrisburgh property owners and residents to join us. We are a diverse group, representing many
different interests within the town. We
don't always agree with one another, but we are trying to find a common
ground. ALL POINTS OF VIEW ARE WELCOME!!!!
We are addressing a new
zoning topic each month, as directed by the Planning Commission. Please send us your thoughts on this month's
zoning topic, or come to one of the meetings listed below to share your ideas.
Current ZoningTopics:
Route 7 Corridor
South of Little Otter Creek
We've heard a lot about what people don't want to see on Route 7 at the
public hearings for the controversial Champlain Oil project.
Here's a chance to look at things with a more positive outlook:
What DO we want to see on Route 7 as our town develops over the
next 10 to 20 years? Zoning regulations are the tool for
Ferrisburgh residents to express their vision for the future of the
town in a legally binding manner. The zoning update process gives
townspeople a chance to reconsider the current zoning along Route 7,
from one end of town to the other, to make sure it is channeling
development in the desired direction:
- Do we have the correct mix of zoning districts along Route 7?
- Review the "purpose"
of each Route 7 zoning district, and adjust if needed
- Review the "permitted
uses" and "conditional uses" of each Route 7 zoning district, and adjust if needed
Route 7 Survey
The advisory committee sent out a
questionnarie to Route 7 property owners at the end of June, to gather
input for the Planning Commission from those most affected by any
potential changes to the zoning along Route 7. Results were
presented to the Planning Commission at their July 15 meeting. Read the survey results ...
